After a long journey we finally
found a village. Or multiple of them actually.
The environment changed as well,
which explained the lack of people. The forest became denser and more
dangerous. There weren’t that many big monsters that would have been easy to spot
and deal with as there were small and sneaky ones.
It was hard just walking in the
forest and we had to be vigilant for any sneak attacks as well. There were some
that were camouflaged into the trees and other vegetation and others that were
small and quick which made it hard to spot them with all the trees and other
things in the way.
The elf had no problems though, but
she never warned us about any dangers. Layla didn’t warn us either. Well that isn’t
completely true there was one situation where she saved Ranns life. I was happy
to see that. I was also really shocked to see that something that dangerous almost
happened. I considered just burning the whole forest down so we could pass
safely but that wasn’t a real option.
I suggested that we go back and go
around the forest, but everyone was against it. We had come a long way at that
point and going back might have been more dangerous.
After that I paid a lot more
attention and there was nothing dangerous after that.
I also came to the decision that we
need to stop our journey for a while. The others need to get stronger before we
continue.
After we got out of the forest, we
were relieved and exhausted. It has been a while since I haven’t slept properly
during the night. When we go back, we absolutely have to go around the forest.
Or maybe if the others get strong enough
then we could go through it again. As long as I can sleep well nothing else
matters. Well it is difficult to move in it so it would be best if we could go
around but it appears to be a huge forest so I doubt we can go around it.
We will try to go around it if
nothing else. It isn’t fun to return the same path we came from after all. Who
knows what things we can discover by just changing the path we return by?
Enough about that though. We aren’t
going back any time soon after all. Our journey is just beginning after all!
Anyways after we got out of the
forest the environment changed drastically. Barely any trees and the grass are
multicolored now. It is amazingly beautiful honestly.
I still haven’t gotten enough of seeing
it. The ground feels softer too, so it is pleasant to walk on. Or would it be
more accurate to say that the grass feels softer.
Also, when we step on the grass it doesn’t
stay down or break. It looks as if we didn’t walk on it. I took some of it with
us so I can experiment with it. If nothing else, you could make some great baskets
or hats with these.
The villages we found belong to
elementals. Imagine that. They are the weirdest creatures I have seen in this
world since they look like humans, but they can also be immaterial.
The village we are in right now
belong to fire elementals. They apparently are in war with the other
elementals. I asked what the other elementals are they replied with water, air
and earth. It wasn’t a big surprise.
But then they said that there were
other kinds as well in the past but they either died out or went into hiding. I
am curious on what kind other kinds there are, but we can’t leave and there is
a war that we need to take care of.
The villages they have are in
pretty horrible state. They are nothing compared to the town of the vampires or
even the normal villages that were struggling to survive.
Maybe it is because they are elementals
and do not need a place to live as much other people or because the war has
ravaged them too hard.
I asked them the reason for this war,
and they said that they do not know for sure. They have been fighting each
other for so long that the cause has been forgotten. Or rather the war has
become the cause for the war.
It is easy to imagine for elementals
to go against each other since they are different. I suppose that even in the
before forest places the other races fought against each other since they were
different. In most cases the wars just ended quickly, and the other side disappeared.
Well most of the times the other
side wanted something from the other as well, so it is a bit different.
