Feathering

23. Feathering. I am tired but I haven’t felt this energetic in ages. This feels so great. Ahhh, I want more of this. Especially when I don’t get too hurt after the fight. Actually, why have I been feeling so weak from the pain? I can just ignore the pain and enjoy fighting right?   I wonder how it will taste. The more dangerous ones were often much tastier than the ant I had before. I hold my knife and stab it in this stomach area. The dagger hits something hard and my hands go numb. Shouldn’t the stomach be the weakest part? I feel it with my hands and something really hard is there. I feel it up around the whole stomach area and it is everywhere. It wasn’t this hard when I stabbed it in the neck. I go to the neck and start cutting it open from the holes I made previously. Or I try to at least but the feathers make it impossible. They are strong and in the way. Even if I try to cut it the way they are going to the soft parts are still in the way and I ca...

#19 We experienced a battle. The water elementals attacked the fire elemental village and we had to step in, or they would have gotten exterminated. The fire elementals are apparently the weakest of the bunch and they have been slowly getting lower and lower on numbers and at the moment they are on their last legs. It makes sense though. water extinguishes fire. Earth repels it and well I don’t know about air. Guess it can blow the fire out? Shouldn’t it make the fire stronger? ----- Okay I asked the fire elementals and they told me that air elementals can just fly away and make huge gusts of winds from a far to deal with them. If they are in their immaterial forms, they would dissipate and if they are in their material forms, they would just fly around and hit trees or other things. I am honestly surprised that they managed to live this long. They have had some tactics where they burn the forests and other things to give them a boost in their power but overtime, the...

Mornings end

19. Mornings end. The other children are starting to wake up as well. Anna and Emma wake up first. Anna would have probably slept in the longest if she didn’t sleep next to Emma that woke up so early. Anna quietly runs over and says good morning with a bright smile. Emma walks closer normally and nods at me. I say good morning to them and beckon them to come closer. Anna quickly comes next to me and hugs my hand. Emma keeps looking at the snake and only slowly coming toward me. “It is smart to be careful of the snake since they are dangerous but this one should be safe. Especially since I am here there is nothing to worry about.” Emma nods again and comes close to the snake. “I want you to get used to the snakes since there will be lots of them from now on. Try petting the snake. Max Isle and Lillie has already pet it so do not worry about it.” Anna curiously looks at the snake and then starts petting it with an amazed expression. Emma also comes closer an...

#18 After a long journey we finally found a village. Or multiple of them actually. The environment changed as well, which explained the lack of people. The forest became denser and more dangerous. There weren’t that many big monsters that would have been easy to spot and deal with as there were small and sneaky ones. It was hard just walking in the forest and we had to be vigilant for any sneak attacks as well. There were some that were camouflaged into the trees and other vegetation and others that were small and quick which made it hard to spot them with all the trees and other things in the way.  The elf had no problems though, but she never warned us about any dangers. Layla didn’t warn us either. Well that isn’t completely true there was one situation where she saved Ranns life. I was happy to see that. I was also really shocked to see that something that dangerous almost happened. I considered just burning the whole forest down so we could pass safely but tha...

Bird

22. Bird The flying creature is too fast to dodge. I grip my dagger hard and brace for the impact by holding my hands near my chest where it looks like the flying creature will hit me. It opens its peak instead and bites down on me. I push as hard as I can with my hands, but I can’t break free. All it does is soften the bite. It is starting to take me higher. I have to get out. I worm my hand out of its mouth and stab its eye with my dagger. Blood squirts out and the creatures screams out letting me go from its mouth. I fall to the water which splashes all around. The ground is soft, and it is hard to get up.  I struggle to get free from the ground. I stand up while I look up and see the bird circling around in the sky. I run to the bank and get out of the water.  I quickly glance and see that there is a bit of distance before the flying creature can get to me. Should I fight or run? It is very fast so I doubt I can run away from it. Fighting seems dif...

#17 Things have been pretty uneventful lately. No big monsters that needed me to fight them. No villages that needed rescuing. Actually, there hasn’t been any villages on our path. If I try asking the elf about nearby villages or things like that, she just ignores me. She also ignores me if I try asking her about herbs and minerals so I can’t advance my research either. Well I still try mixing things randomly from time to time but with unknown herbs I don’t dare try them out on myself or others here. I do try them out on the beasts that we encounter but unless the effect is quick and big enough for us to see then we get nothing out of it. There have been some interesting results such as color change or fur growth or loss. I have been marking down the herbs and mixes that produce results, but it would be nice if I could learn more. I have been thinking about taking with us a small pet which I could use for experiments. That way we could see if there are any long-term ef...

Morning snake

18. Morning snake Something is licking my hand. The tongue shape is weird too. It branches out at the end, so it feels like there are two tongues licking me. I open my eyes and the sun light hits my eyes directly. I move my other hand to block the light and see that it is the snake that is licking my hand. How adorable. It didn’t even try to eat the children during the night. Even without fangs it could have swallowed them whole. Of course, I would have woken up if it left my lap, but it shouldn’t have known that. I wonder why it is acting so well. If someone pulled away my teeth, I would really dislike them. I pet the snake. The scales feel smooth under my hand. I don’t want this snake to die. I can’t let the children practice fighting against snakes with this one. Susie will probably not be alright with this but maybe this will be good for her too. Okay that might be wishful thinking, but I do hope that she can get a long with this snake. I l...
